Not as good as the FIDE-piece LOTR-themed variants, but unfairly excluded from the Themed Variants page. The Knight substitute always switches square colour, the Bishop substitute never does, and that substituion follows through to the other pieces, so that preserves a lot of the character of FIDE Chess. For clarity it might be worth showing both armies' symbols at the start of the piece descriptions.
