Geodesic Chess is played on a spherical grid of hexagons and pentagons consisting of 272 spaces.

The center cell of each face of the GeoBoard is noted with an indicator of "north" and "south" to aid in determining the movement direction of SQUIREs and PAWNs.

The game is won by checkmating the opposing KING.
