Bizarre effect: when I make the board of the I.D. 1 file wide, the squares get expanded vertically by a factor 3. (That is both on FireFox and Chrome.) When I increase the number of columns the effect slowly disappears.

Why should the number of columns in a table affect the height of the cells???
