I have been quietly adding new material to this page, and it is now at a fairly mature stage. First, I was updating "The Origin of Chess," covering more arguments for it being Chinese Chess. I also started expanding "Chaturanga to Chess" so much that I broke part of it off into a new section called "Emergence of a New Chess." This mainly addresses the question of whether it has a Spanish origin or an Italian origin, as both have been claimed for it.

If you're fluent in a foreign language, you may be able to check some of my translations. I usually had to rely on computer translations or my ability to recognize words that were similar to English words. One thing I would like to do is trace changes to the rules of Chess to specific documents, but since I cannot read other languages well, I cannot do this on my own. If you can read one of the languages that a document was written in, it would be helpful to learn the exact rules it described. This could prove useful for better placing documents on the new Chess into a timeline.
