Chess with Different Armies. Betza's classic variant where white and black play with different sets of pieces. (Recognized!)[All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]As far as I can see, all the CDA armies devised so far substitute paired pieces for paired pieces, and unpaired ones for just the Queen. If I'm right, the Immortal AntiClericals would be a radical departure from previous CDA practice. Substituting two pairs of, and three unpaired, pieces still allows play with a Staunton set, but it relies on using an uninverted and inverted Rook for the unpaired pieces - in this case in the Bishop position, whereas normally every piece would be used for its substitute in its own position.
