Joe makes awesome points. I've seen similar things as I've browsed trying to find what i'm looking for.

[Editor's note: this is continued from the previous Proliferation thread.]

I'd love to see more chess variants that differ more and more from chess. And so I started Infinite: the card game.

Basically it allows for any board game with fairy chess pieces. It would include all square board variants found here on Chess Variants pages, however, it would be PRINTABLE... something that I find lacking :/ I mean, computers are great, but isn't playing with actual pieces great? All the computer variants put onto cards.. imagine the ease of use! A system to categorize all the variants?

Anyway, If anyone is interested in printable pieces.. with the rules attached I'd love to know.

Another incredible aspect is this would change the entire meta-game of chess and increase the number of chess variants exponentially. (i'm specifically thinking of fairy chess pieces.. but rules and boards would be cool too.)

Basic process for pieces: Grid. Put symbols, colors, numbers on it. This is how a piece moves, acts and behaves. For new mechanics, basic symbols, reference cards would be used. For combined symbols, simply identify which symbols are combined. Simply put, create a "language" for chess that is efficient and user friendly.

(computers do a great job, because they can keep large amounts of data in memory.)

Basic process for rules (variants from chess that change fundamentals besides pieces such as board size, shape, turns etc.): Write it out :/ (Haven't thought of that one as much.. maybe symbols would work to?)
