The Piece: Kirin Tag

Description

The piece is known as Kylin or Kirin (same Japanese word, romanised differently) from large Shogi variants. A Kirin (Chinese Qilin, Korean Girin, Thai Gilen) is an East Asian mythological creature resembling a giraffe, but also having features of a dragon, and sometimes having horns or hooves. The piece was named Diamond by George Jelliss because of the shape of the squares it can reach.
