Pythagoras found that consonant sounds have components related to string
lengths in simple proportions such as 2:1. Auditory illusions are as real
as optical illusions when brains reorganize distorted models of space and
time. Dexterity: in the majority, right-handers hear (differently from
lefties) high-pitched tones out of the right better and low-pitched on the
left. Therefore, Orchestras are arranged, ideally, for right-handed
musicians and left-handed audiences, actual scientific interpretation of
real facts. I.e., the array: first violins>2nd violins>3rd violins;
violoncellos>double basses; trumpet>trombone>tuba, where Tuba over on the
right is relatively dis-euphonious for most of the audience, the worst
position for their perception and discordant; but helpful for mirror-image
musicians on stage. The solutions may be impractical: (1) Hang the audience from the ceiling (2) Hang the orchestra from the ceiling (3) Admit only left-handed listeners. Strong Pawns approaching piece-values are disharmonious; over-complex rules shout in your face; odd win conditions are disquieting. The traditional instruments are at least known by music lovers, unlike CVs' ad hoc choice of material, the plug-in piece-types. All the notes above could be amplified. // <1> Learn to make moves looking at the board sideways. <2> LISTEN to the radical pieces for harmonious moves. <3> Bishop must be higher-pitched than Rooks, Queen over King, and Pawns versus Knights. <4> Ask before submission, is your CVart the sound of music or an orchestral shot in the dark?
