Please replace the images on this page with local copies of the images. This is to keep the images from not showing up in the event that something happens to the external website they are hosted on.

I'm still waiting for the external images to be replaced with local images. We now have a new file manager for uploading images. You should try it out.

Hi Fergus, I have tried doing so but I get this error message:

The directory /membergraphics/MSphantom/ does not exist.

Also the WYSIWYG editor doesn't seem to have an opton for uploading.

You're welcome to save/upload and insert the new  local image address for me if you like.

Or if you fix bug can just get me to try again.

The name Phantom Chess is already taken:

You can't upload with the WYSIWYG editor. It is a third-party JavaScript application that does not work with our server. You have to use the file manager. This is a PHP script I personally wrote for uploading and managing files here. You'll find a link to it in the Edit menu or down below on your page when you're signed in. When I opened it for your submission, I got the warning:

There are no files in the directory /membergraphics/Phantom/ matching the filter *.

This means that the directory does now exist, but it is empty. Checking with WinSCP, it is indeed there. You should be able to use it to upload files.

Nope, whenever I click "upload or manage files" I still get the same error message I posted before.

I just used the file manager to upload and delete a sample file to the directory for Phantom.

While I don't get the author information block displayed on this page, I assume (based on the link on my own page and the itemID of this page) that the link is
https://www.chessvariants.com/index/managefiles.php?itemid=MSphantom
which gives me the error:

The directory  /membergraphics/MSphantom/  does not exist.

Trying to navigate directly to the folder also fails.

🕸Fergus Duniho wrote on Fri, May 22, 2020 04:52 PM UTC:

It seems that I had mistyped the ItemID as Phantom, which resulted in it creating the /membergraphics/Phantom directory. For unknown reasons, it was unable to create the directory /membergrahics/MSphantom/ through the script. I'm not sure why it had a problem with this and not the other. So, I created the directory manually via SSH, and uploading should now work for this item.

Now it tells me...

Upload of  /home/chessvariants/public_html/membergraphics/MSphantom/Phantom-By-Jepps-Movement.png  was allowed but failed! The cause of failure is unknown.

🕸Fergus Duniho wrote on Sun, Jun 28, 2020 02:15 AM UTC:

This happened because Owner and Group were set to root. I changed them to chessvariants, but that still didn't fix the problem. So, I then changed them to apache, and that fixed it. I then used the File Manager to upload and delete a file to the directory for this page.

🕸Fergus Duniho wrote on Sun, Jun 28, 2020 04:39 PM UTC:

I noticed today that this directory didn't have group write permissions set. I set it, changed the owner and group from apache to chessvariants, and it allowed me to upload and delete a file, because chessvariants and apache are in each other's group. You should be able to upload files now. Let me know if you still have any trouble.
