Hmm... all bishops are bound to the light squares?
Convert Queens to Kings and this becomes a rather uninteresting 4-team chess, or don't and it is partnership game for four with a few minor provisions. As two-player, it is about like mixing Berolina and standard pawns, as done occasionally.
Yes, all Bishops are on the same color. I thought it odd, too, and Pritchard thought it worthy of noting. I have added a line to the notes section about it. I don't know why they did that.

I think the area of contact is too small for good four-player play. The middle would just clog.
On the other hand, convert Queens to Kings AND Bishops to Queens and you get a 4-player game with unbound pieces only. Pushing the Pawns a rank forward (assuming a bar on moves through concavities) and cramming the entire FIDE back rank onto the ranks behind gives something similar to, but more compact than, the Half-Pawn version of my Fivequarters. The board is, I think, worth a rating of good for its extra possibilities, even if the array shown here is uninspiring.
