I just purchased this game on e-bay. Your rules were both timely and very well written. Thanks!!!
I found out about this game back when I was in High School(1984-1987). My mom mentioned there was some kind of pseudo-chess tournament at an area mall - turned out to be this game. I got to meet Leonard, bought the game, went over the rules, and ended up like 4th place overall. My winnings paid for the cost of the game and some lunch. :) I've had the game ever since then. Until this website, I've not encountered anyone else who'd even heard of the game. A shame too, it's a fun game - faster paced than chess with a little more difficulty than checkers.. basically just fun to play.
The game-makers name is listed as Leonard John Kalich Sr. I found this info on him at Ancestry.com Leonard John KALICH Sr. Born: 4 Mar 1920, Uniontown PA Marriage: Virginia A KLEIN on 25 Aug 1941 in Detroit MI Died: 18 Aug 1991 at age 71 Buried: Resurrection Cem I think the company folded when he passed on.
