Having the occupancy of the wrapped square decide whether moves to the edge are possible strikes me as very unnatural. I think it would be cleaner to  just always assume the board is surrounded by empty squares, i.e. always allow moving or capturing to the edge.

Are the Spacious Cannoneers defined anywhere? I see two articles about them, but these present presets and a Zillions file. None of those mentions any rules.
