Hello,
I have something like 10 days ago launched challenges for many game among which Balbo's chess, Asylum Redux, Butterfly chess. Now I see that I have "drawn" these games, but I have not actually played any of them. What is most likely to have happened is that some people have accepted the challenges and then because of maybe broken game code code, the program considered those game drawn. In the case of Butterfly chess sxg has re-challenged me and now a game is on the way :)! So the problem may be somehow circumvented, but that is just an temporary solution. I'm willing to help these cases for 2 reasons. I have the time and decent knowlledge, and also these days I am trying "many" games I find interesting so it is likely I'll stumble upond such cases. Admitedly this is not a thorough search but even here and there if if dense enough could help very much :)! May I receive some guidance?
chess with wizards, chess68, cannons of chesstonia seem to all fall under the same category :(!

Ok, we can do it, just plundge in maybe even 2 challenges (1white,1black), but I doubt an engine that is not purpuselly desingned for that will manage. But with you assitance situations like when only one piece attack your queen, will be ignored.
H.G.
Will you kibitz from time to time? I agree with what you said about modifying an engine :)!

I just had an similar experience with falcon chess, and that one is very well done, could it be a deeper problem?

While at the local supermarket cue, I got on thinking. So even in the opening it could matter. Think about fianchetto-ing your bishop: you move your b or g pawn and then your opponent keeps refusing your bishop move. On the other hand your king pawn opening seems to gain merit, think about the scandinavian, 1.e4 d5 and then you can merely move 2.c4 for example (not sure if it is actually good) as you can always refuse the capture. Point being it is not just choose the second best move, every move has new posibilities. I honestly think this game is more strategic than tactical by comparisson the orthodox chess, or at least is something else both strategically and tactically despite the state space of the game being the same :)!

Cool, so much public thanks Fergus! You defineatly made my day :)!

Also I think you have described the lance twice once by itself, and another time before when writting (L/R Chariot)
@HG
I meant in the article, where you describe the promotions under rules section, I wasn't very clear, I apoligize for that :(!

Would someone venture to discuss piece values for this game? Ten years ago, Greg has stated that is very difficult but nothing more :)! I agree, but where to begin. I think is obvious that pieces have very different opening and endgame values, as purposelly the pieces with smaller speed (and usually fighting value) were designed to hold more victory points :)! My take is that the queen is quite powerfull in the opening and middle game but losses importance in the endgame. So what do you guys think?

Ok, my bad :)! Sorry for the misunderstanding :(! I usually don't like just writting initials because it leads to these kind of confusion though :(!

I just refused a move, so you need to take back (just browse through and redo the last move). Trouble is with that preset there is a ban on the "pass" instruction so I just offered a draw you should not accept :)!

I'm not sure about the knight+vao checkmating tehnique in this game, may someone guide me?
I also find the platinum general name better than "drunk elephant"
It is clear when pieces promote, but not clear to what they promote, may you please expand?
@HG,
I did though about that, too. I think is rather obvious what you've just said :)! I was wondering would replacing the back wazir moves with back dababah moves, and back ferz moves with back alfill moves help? If so maybe not enough, otherwise how so solve this problem :)?
My last idea was quite silly, it does not seem to solve anything :(!
Personally I'm not very happy about the introduction of Kirin or Phoenix as the alure of this game was as you mentioned, Nicolino. But you may promote irons to copper on the back rank and that's it :). I don't see how this makes promotion optional, just make it always mandatory, by capture or by last rank :)! When a platinum promotes to a jewelled general does it make it an extra royal that has to be checkmated?

The 8-way knight seems overpowered for shogi, especially in it's promoted form :)! Although somehow reading this the thought has crossed my mind about a cross-over between cavalier chess and shogi :)!

:) Actually Fergus Onesti is my neighboring city, but I guess is where the servers of my provider are :)!
First and foremost I like alternate history but the thought of alternate history chess has not really crossed my mind :)! "Really" because I though at something like in the mist of the Napoleonic wars generals decide to play team (like regular FIDE team competition-like the Olimpiad) chess of several chess variants of my own desing. For now Apothecary chess 1 and Apothecary chess 2 would do, but I think I can do better, my two apothecaries are rather modern. But because those games would be of my "Godly desing" they will follow my own preferences so they would be larger in scope (board and number of pieces) :)! Currenty I play a lot of games but I'll try it soon :)!

That is defineatly the case, but I doubt I can find anyone in my country even, with an account on this website, anyway a good initiative :)! I am trying to promote the site among my chess acquaintances, but it works better (for some reason) with my facebook/internetty friends rather than my "real" life friends :)!

I am ok with that but as my chess skills are very low, I'm not sure if I am the correct person for this experiment, anyway V. if you still agree we may try this way :)!
I have not yet found an Aldress preset, I guess is not yet availeble :)!

@V.
If you say you would just plug in engine moves, than it wouldn't be that nice would it. Anyway my point was that this game has a slightly different strategy. You should try the game courier it has plenty of nice games and I have plenty of already on challenges. Otherwise you may challenge me directly, my user name is catugo.
