Reform-Chess (book information)

Reform-Chess is a book, written by László Polgár, the famous father and trainer of the well known `Polgar sisters'. In this book, Polgár proposes four small chess variants, differing from standard chess by a different board size (8 by 6, 6 by 8, 9 by 6, or 5 by 8), and a different setup procedure (pawns are set up on the second row; players then alternatingly setup a piece on their first rows.)

The book contains many many diagrams of chess positions, useful for training purposes. Several are very easy (e.g., mate in one positions), some are harder. Also, some positions have the setup of pieces in the form of a letter of the alphabet. The book also gives the solutions to the problems, a small bibliography, and text in five languages, including English, German, French, and Hungarian.

In addition to the book, there are cutout boards and pieces, allowing the reader to play the variants, and to setup the positions.
